Cairo

Cairo, the largest city in Africa and the Arab world, is the capital of Egypt. It is located on the east bank of the Nile River. It has been in the same place with the same name for more than 1300 years. It offers a composition of the Eastern and Western civilizations. The city has hosted many cultures and civilizations in its history of about 7000-8000 years.

Cairo is a very crowded city. It is an economic, political, and cultural center for both Egypt and the surrounding countries. The government, parliament, some governmental offices, and most of the diplomatic missions are also located in Cairo.

Desert climate is effective in Cairo. While the summer is hot and dry in the city, the winter is warm. Usually, there are two seasons: a warm summer between May and October and a cool winter between November and April. With its historical buildings, Cairo is a very interesting city.

The ancient Egyptian pyramids still remain their mystery in the city, which is divided into two by the Nile River. The Egyptian Museum (Mathf al-Masri) offers the most extensive collection of ancient Egyptians. Papyrus and coins from ancient times are exhibited especially on the ground floor of the museum.
